ICE : Streets of Colour - 24 Hour Challenge (2017/18)

Dear Student,

Do you want to extend your network within the university, develop new skills and experience working on an innovative project, which you steer forward? The winning team is awarded £250.

Then sign up for the “Streets of Colour” 24 hour challenge.

This is a one off opportunity for you to work collaboratively with your peers from other schools in a challenging, fun and dynamic environment.

You will develop an idea for Kirklees Council to add colour to the town centre, some of the ideas will be taken forward and actually become reality and even more interesting the winning teams will be awarded monetary prizes.

Organised into multidisciplinary teams, you will have just 24 hours to complete a design challenge set and judged by an esteemed panel of judges from Kirklees Council and the University of Huddersfield.

Streets of Colour is a community project run by Kirklees Council.
The aims of the project are:
• Encourage activities and schemes that will attract community involvement that can be self- sustained
• Businesses – increased footfall and dwell-time in Huddersfield Town Centre
• Community – sense of identify and pride
• Visitors – discovering Huddersfield

THERE WILL BE MONETARY PRIZES FOR THE EVENT:
Winning Team - £250
2nd Prize - £150
3rd Prize - £100
(All prize money will be transferred by BACS to the winners after the event)

DAY 1 - will be spent in the council offices in Huddersfield Town Hall
DAY 2 - will be spent here on campus with a presentation to the judging panel and prize giving
You will be asked to sign a document waiving your right to the Intellectual Property of the ideas you come up with as part of the challenge.

YOU MUST BE AVAILABLE FOR BOTH DAYS

ICE 2016/17 - BBC 24 Hour Challenge (2016/17)

Organised into multidisciplinary teams, you will have just 24 hours to complete a design challenge set and judged by industry professionals from the BBC.

The winning team will be invited to the BBC to use the BBC Blue Room and R&D Suites.

On the morning of the challenge, the BBC will be here to present the brief and launch the event.
They will also be showing you some techniques that they use when running their Design Sprint's.

You must be available for both days.

You will be required to sign a document waiving your right to the Intellectual Property of the ideas you come up with during the challenge.

INNOVATION: Society of Dyers and Colourists – Colour Scene Investigation (Feb 2017)

We will introduce the idea of colour in the circular economy and all the considerations involved in each stage. You will learn about the process of taking a product through from the design stage to the sourcing of materials, the manufacturing processes, the use of product and critically the final recycle or reuse of the product.
