Northern Ballet has developed a very close link with the University of Huddersfield’s School of Art, Design and Architecture over the years, providing 12 placements to Costume with Textiles students since 2010. Working with an award winning and professional team of designers, students have developed and gained a valuable experience in the area of Costume Design.

University of Huddersfield students have worked in wardrobe and wig design for some of Northern Ballet’s biggest plays.  Some of the productions they were involved in include original productions and interpretations of popular classical ballets such as Peter Pan, The Great Gatsby, Cinderella, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Beauty and the Beast.

Northern Ballet is a professional, award winning and well-recognised dance company in Leeds aiming to raise the profile of dance in the UK. They develop new and original productions in dance, comedy, music, theatre, popular culture and opera.  Recently they have completed two national tours and travelled to 28 venues around the UK.

The students who undertook a placement with Northern Ballet are Isobel McClughan, Lucy Clayton, Helen Charters, Lowri Allen, Rebecca Cox, Chloe Ramsey, Chloe Winn, Oliver Walton, Charlotte Neave, Helen Charters, Emily Spreadborough and Elizabeth Murray.
