Crafty Praxis

“Having already started my first business, Elisa Etemad Jewellery, during the second year of my degree I knew that I wanted to continue with self-employment on graduation. I wanted to sell my own textile jewellery and arts and crafts from other designers too. There was nowhere else in Huddersfield that offered this, yet I knew that there were many creative people within Kirklees. This led to the formation of Crafty Praxis.

The Enterprise Team helped and supported me through every step of the way however and whether I had good news or bad, they were always there. I was lucky enough to secure one of the first places on the Activ8 scheme, which helped financially, through training opportunities and facilitated access to industry professionals.”

"I found the support I received
from the Enterprise Team,
both financial and practical,
was absolutely invaluable
throughout the first year of my
new business venture.
While I could have started a
business without their support,
I would not have progressed
as quickly"
