Access for Graduands and Guests with Disabilities
If you and/or your guests require particular seating arrangements due to a disability, you must ensure that full details are provided when booking your place. These details are important to ensure that the appropriate arrangements are made and we will not be able to guarantee to meet your seating requirements on the day without them.
Access to the stage for Graduands
The stage in St Paul's Hall is a raised platform which is accessed by a flight of steps (please see the photograph below). Due to the nature of the venue it is not possible to avoid these; however, alternative arrangements for having your award conferred where it is not possible to navigate these will be made. Please let us know of your requirements when registering via My Details or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org (please make it clear that you are referring to yourself and not your guests).
There are a limited number of blue badge parking spaces available on the Huddersfield campus which are issued on the day on a first-come-first-served basis. Spaces can not be reserved in advance. A member of staff will be present at the entry barrier to allow access to the campus and direct you to the nearest available blue badge parking space, subject to availability.
For those who are unable to secure a blue badge space on campus, or do not hold a blue badge but have guests with mobility problems, there is a drop off/collection zone available on campus. This is located at the front of the Harold Wilson Building and will allow you to drop off your guests, park your car in town and meet your guests again. The building is centrally located at the main university entrance roundabout, close to all the facilities such as registration, robing, photography and St Paul's Hall. There is seating available on the ground floor together with light refreshments and toilet facilities and the building is easily accessible for those with mobility problems.

Individual assistance will be available on campus as necessary to access gowning, photography and catering facilities. Please note that the University is not able to provide wheelchairs. All of the routes around campus may involve stairs or lifts.
Access to the guest seating area
Access to the majority of guest seating is up a flight of steps and no lift is available (please see the photograph below). Level access seats can be reserved for guests with wheelchairs or limited mobility; however, please note that due to the architecture and layout of the hall level access seating is limited and may have restricted views. When registering please include details of wheelchair users and any guests with other mobility problems for whom level access seating is required. Unfortunately, if you do not tell us at least two weeks in advance of the ceremony, then we will not be able to guarantee that level access seating will be available.
Please note that where additional guest tickets have been purchased, it may not always be possible for more than two guests to sit together in the reserved seating area.
As space in the venue is limited, mobility scooters, prams and pushchairs are not allowed into the Hall. They can be left outside in a manned marquee, but are done so at the owner's own risk, so please ensure that you do not leave any valuables with them.
British Sign Language Interpreter
Access to a BSL interpreter will be available providing that the University is given prior notice. Please let us know your requirements when you register or by contacting email@example.com
Access to the Celebratory Reception
The celebratory reception is located on the ground floor (level 4) of the Oastler Building.
Access to the Video Link Lecture Theatres
The video link lecture theatres are located on level 5 of the Oastler Building. Ground floor access to the building is via level 4 and lifts are located on the right hand side as you enter the building.
