The Enterprise Team is delighted to announce that from July 2021, we have partnered with IPSE to enable our University of Huddersfield students who are, or who wish to work in a freelance/self-employed capacity, to access even more help and support – all free of charge of course!
IPSE, the Association of Independent Professionals and the Self-Employed, is the voice of the UK’s self-employed population who make up one in seven people working today.
To help people strike out on their own, IPSE provides protection, advice, tools and services to get them on the right track. It also conducts research on self-employment to back lobbying efforts that champions the UK as a leading flexible economy.
IPSE is the UK’s largest community for the self-employed professionals which means working for yourself doesn’t have to mean working alone. IPSE gives you the safety net, support and inspiration you need to thrive, wherever you are in your self-employed journey. To continue this support IPSE recently launched Freelance Corner which is the fastest growing online community for young and emerging talent.
Self-employment ultimately means being your own boss. You may have heard of terms like freelancer, contractor, business owner, digital nomad or gig worker – these are all typically forms of self-employment!
Being self-employed means you often get to choose what you work on, wherever and whenever you want to work on it, so it’s not hard to see why over 5 million people are choosing this way of working.
However, with all that freedom comes the task of running a business legally, efficiently and profitably. That’s where IPSE comes in. We’re here to help you with everything from business and financial planning to building professional networks and getting paid.
