Notice of changes to the way Office 365 groups are created.

With the introduction of Office 365, users have the autonomy to create groups such as for collaboration with fellow students around a team assignment or emailing a group of individuals. What we have discovered is that the naming of some of these groups have contravened naming conventions which then have had implications where end users have emailed the wrong group or end users have sight of inappropriate names.
To overcome this we are making a change to restrict who can create groups. If you require a group creating then please contact your local technical staff or the CLS IT helpdesk on ext. 3737 or email
