Disability and Inclusion Manager
I joined Huddersfield as the Disability and Inclusion Manager in October 2017 having previously held similar roles at Queen’s University and Ulster University in Belfast. In addition to managing the Disability Team and Learning Support, I also provide advice and support to some students studying for research degrees at the University. A key part of my role is to work across the University to help develop disability policy and practice, promoting the principles of an inclusive learning environment for all our students.

I recently joined the team after teaching in both further and higher education for the past 12 years. I work with a team of disability advisers to provide advice and support for students that have a disability or a long term health condition that has a significant impact on their studies. I work primarily with PhD and Research students in order to complete their Personal Learning Support Plans which feature recommendations that will support learning. In addition to advising staff members on reasonable adjustments and inclusive practice, I develop and deliver training on inclusive practice at the University.
I have been working within Student Services at the University of Huddersfield for over 20 years and see my role as part of a university-wide team of faciliators working towards an inclusive learning experience for all our students with disabilities.
I provide support and guidance for disabled students, applicants and University staff. I recognise students individual needs and work as inclusively as possibly so students can achieve their full potential and feel able to participate fully during their time at the University.
Disability Services Assistant
I deliver administration support for Disability Services, enabling Disability Advisers to support their students, as well as providing initial advice and support to students, staff and parents. I am also involved in the statistical reporting for Student Services, analysing and compiling data in order to shape service strategy. Outside of work, I am studying for a MSc in Psychology to develop my skills further within disability support.

As the Learning Support Co-ordinator, my role is to manage our team of 56 Support Workers and Non-Medical Helpers. Learning Support offers various support to students who have disclosed a disability, to enable them to successfully complete their studies. The team works across campus and offers a flexible support system.
I am a Disability Adviser working to provide support and guidance for disabled students, applicants and University staff. As a Psychology graduate of the University, I have now worked in various roles at the institution for twenty years. I am currently studying towards a Masters of Education at Huddersfield and am passionate about enabling all students to have equal access to their studies and providing an inclusive study environment.
