Eligibility

Laptop Bursary: £500 bursary to purchase a laptop 

To be eligible for the Laptop Bursary students must meet the following criteria: 

  1. You must be eligible for the Huddersfield Scholarship, or;
  2. You must be newly enrolled on a full-time undergraduate studies programme at the University in 2021/22 in your first year of study. 
  3. You must be a UK citizen with confirmed tuition fee support. 
  4. Your family income, verified by a UK funding body, is less than £25,000 per annum and you have been prioritised and contacted by the student finance office (based on lowest declared and verified family income). 
  5. Laptop Bursaries will not be available to students on one-year top-up degree programmes; part-time students at the University of Huddersfield; where the Laptop Bursaries value exceed the tuition fee to be charged; students that already hold an undergraduate honours degree level qualification; students from non-EU countries, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man are excluded from the Laptop Bursary. 
  6. Students in receipt of a laptop resultant from the Disabled Students' Allowance award or in the process of applying for Disabled Students' Allowance that will likely result in the award of a laptop, are not eligible for a Laptop Bursary but will be able to access a short term loan laptop from Disability Services during the period their award is being processed and equipment supplied. Please contact or register with Disability Services to progress Disabled Students' Allowance applications and arrange a loan laptop. If you think you may be eligible for Students' Disabled Allowance please contact the Disability Service BEFORE submitting a Laptop Bursary application. 

Huddersfield Scholarship: £1000 bursary 

The Huddersfield Scholarship programme in 2021/22 provides a £1000 bursary to students who meet the Huddersfield Scholarship criteria. This is normally administered and awarded in January and February of each year, after completion of term one and once student qualifications and family income are confirmed. 

Students eligible for and choosing to use the £500 Laptop Bursary in term 1 of 2021/22 and eligible for the Huddersfield Scholarship will receive a £500 cash scholarship.  Students who do not access the £500 Laptop Bursary in term 1 who are subsequently confirmed as eligible for the Huddersfield Scholarship will receive a £1000 cash scholarship in February.

Accessing your Bursary or Scholarship 

You do not need to apply for either the Bursary or the Scholarship. The University will contact you using the information provided to support your enrolment and student finance awards. 

Students eligible for the Laptop Bursary will be contacted from 14 September onwards once their enrolment is completed. A weekly update will ensure newly enrolled students and updated household income data is considered and used.  

The Laptop Bursary Scheme will close on the 30 November.
