Careers Support for Care Leavers

Starting university can be an exciting prospect but also a challenging one.  As a care leaver you may have particular concerns about what to do after you graduate from your course.  We can offer support that is specifically tailored to your needs, and can help you with:

Planning your career

Navigating the next steps and choosing a career can be challenging for any student.  You may find it beneficial to talk through your ideas with one of our careers consultants.  They can help you to consider a range of options and address any particular issues you feel might be barriers to progressing in your future career. The best way to do this is to book a Career Planning Appointment.

Creating a Network of professional contacts

Would you like support with developing professional contacts to help you progress your career? If so you may be interested in joining the Huddersfield Mentoring Scheme which matches you to a professional who can share their insights and experience to help you achieve your career goals.  Contact: Gillian Coyle (Mentoring Scheme Co-ordinator) g.coyle@hud.ac.uk and Rebecca Hayes (Disability Support worker) R.Hayes@hud.ac.uk for further information.
