Types of Research Degrees
The University of Huddersfield comprises six academic schools offering PhD and MSc/MA by Research degrees. Most students will take a standard PhD or Masters by Research. In addition, some Schools also offer professional doctorates. The School of Education and Professional Development offers the EdD (Doctor of Education) and the Huddersfield Business School offers the DBA (Doctor of Business Administration) and the DPA (Doctor of Public Administration). For those research students wanting to combine bespoke research in any discipline with business and enterprise opportunities the University offers the DEnt (Doctor of Enterprise) and the MEnt (Masters of Enterprise).
As a research student you will have a supervisory team comprising normally of two academic staff. All academic staff are affiliated to a Research Institute or Research Centre as well as being a part of an Academic School. These research units are often cross-School and interdisciplinary. All research students will become a part of one of these Institutes or Centres. These institutes and centres collaborate with international partners on research projects, guest lectures, research exchanges, and guest residencies.
