Digital accessibility

What assistive technologies and equipment can I access?

Assistive software is available from the University, through HudStudy and can help you with your studies. Every computer on campus should have MindView, ColorVeil, MS Edge Browser and Microsoft 365 installed.

MindView is a mind mapping tool and is excellent for essay structuring and revision planning. MindView can be loaned to students who are not entitled to it through the DSA. You can request a licence, to use MindView on campus and at home, visit the MindView - HudStudy: Assistive Technology Support page to find out how.

ColorVeil adds a customisable colour filter over your desktop, internet browser, video player, document, email or program making it easier to read. Click to install ColorVeil on your personal laptop or PC. (Windows only, for Mac, use Color Filters).

MS Edge and Office 365 are loaded with lots of assistive technology that can read the screen out loud, make the screen easier to read, allow you to type with your voice, transcribe audio to text, practice your presentation and much more. Simply download and install onto your device.

Caption.Ed allows you to caption any video that doesn't already have subtitles. It’s quick and easy to use, simply press start captioning and start your video. Your captions will appear on your screen, it also has a useful note-taking function. Caption.Ed can be loaned to students who are not entitled to it through the DSA, simply register to use.

If you feel that this technology would be useful and you would like a training session please book an appointment with HudStudy.
