About this opportunity

Part-time jobs are not only a way of earning money alongside your degree but also an excellent way to gain work experience that you can include on your CV when applying for graduate jobs. There are a range of opportunities that will all provide you with valuable skills, from bar/restaurant work to retail to admin and also industry work, which could relate to the area you would like to get into, such as, social media, graphic design or translation work.

A note for students with visas: please make sure you are aware of your visa requirements in relation to any work restrictions you may have, and ensure you don't work more hours than your visa states you are able to.  Please speak with the International Office if you have any queries about visa restrictions.

What commitment is required?

A part-time job can be a long term commitment and employers might have a minimum number of hours they expect you to work each week.  It is advisable that you find out what the time commitment is and consider if it suits your needs before accepting a role.

About this opportunity

Self-employment might sound quite daunting but it would be a shame to miss out on an exciting opportunity if you have a brilliant idea for how you could be self-employed.  If you have an interest outside of your course or doing something on your course that produces a product or a service, why not consider trying to make it into a business and make some money out of it?

Understandably, some people may not have a clue where to start.  Did you know, the University has its own Enterprise team who can help students with any self-employment advice they may need?
