Formula Student History

Team HARE have been entering the Formula Student competition since 1999 and are proud to be amongst the UK's most established and professional teams. The Team consists of automotive, mechanical and electronic engineering students from the University of Huddersfield.

Overview

The Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) started running the Formula Student programme in 1981. Formula Student (FS) is now Europe's most established educational motorsport competition for undergraduates who want hands on experience in an innovative racing team, run by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE).

Backed by industry and high profile engineers, the competition aims to inspire and develop enterprising and innovative young engineers. Universities from across the world are challenged to design and build a single-seat racing car in order to compete in static and dynamic events, which demonstrate their understanding and test the performance of the vehicle.
