Huddersfield is in the county of West Yorkshire in the North of England. The major northern cities of Leeds and Manchester are close by, with Leeds 20 miles (32km) to the east and Manchester 29 miles (47km) to the west.

The town of Huddersfield is relatively urban because its district, Kirklees, is a large area. However, the surrounding areas of Huddersfield are very rural with lots of fields and farms. Huddersfield is also at the foot of the Southern Pennines, a hilly moorland that separates Yorkshire and Lancashire, and is known for its remarkable scenery and fantastic walking routes.

You can travel to most major northern places directly from Huddersfield, and you can get to London in under 3 hours via the train, changing at Leeds.
