Study Skills Support
We offer a wide range of study skills support that you can access at anytime during your university journey.
- Preparing to Study – this is a bookable short course of 2 sessions that focuses on what you need to do to study effectively.
- Study Matters – This is a one-to-one session that you can book and ask for help with any difficulty you are facing with your studies.
These sessions have been developed to support a maximum of 6 students at one time, staff members running this course are Jo Calvert and Sharon Morgan
We can also work with you to design an individualised learning plan that works for you and support you with many aspects of your learning for example, report writing, exam revision, presentations, referencing, research methodologies, time management, staff members running these appointments are Sharon Morgan and Hugh Peters
- Maths Matters – These are bookable sessions for up to 15 students at any one time.
The session will start with a maths concept and the rest of the session will allow students to ask for help with the specific elements of maths they are struggling with; students are encouraged to bring their maths problems to the session for support.
There is also a range of maths resources available in the Guidance Portal, so you can improve your skills in this area at your own pace, the staff member running these sessions is Hugh Peters.
Hugh will also provide one to one maths support and help with physics
In addition, the team run Learning Development Sessions on a Wednesday morning, these cover a wide range of subjects designed to help you navigate your learning journey well. Resources for all sessions are available on the Guidance Portal under Learning and Development, so that you can engage with the content as often as needed to build your study skills.
