During your time at university, there might be occasions when you need support or guidance on non-academic matters. The School of Applied Sciences has two Student Guidance & Support Officers who can offer advice and practical support on a wide range of matters that might be causing you to struggle with your studies.
University can be an exciting time, the start of a new journey, a new chapter in your lives. Though this new chapter is a positive one, it is a change that can bring challenges you may not have anticipated.
During your journey you may face challenges/difficulties in your mental, social and physical health that begin to impact on your studies. Existing difficulties that have not previously affected your studies may be exacerbated causing you stress and anxiety.
Booking an appointment with a Student Guidance and Support Officer will give you a space to explore the difficulties that are affecting you, problem solve and signpost you to other specialist services as appropriate.
‘The university has a robust support system for all students and we do not want you to suffer in silence. I want to encourage you to talk about any difficulties you are experiencing as soon as you can. The sooner you seek help the less likely your difficulties will impact on your studies’
The office is in JPSG/21 located in the Joseph Priestley Building.
