Access for guests and graduates with special requirements

Guest Drop off

Guests can be dropped off on campus at the top of Page Street.

Parking

There are a limited number of blue badge parking spaces available on the University of Huddersfield campus which are issued on the day, on a first-come-first-served basis.  Spaces cannot be reserved in advance. Blue badge parking spaces can be accessed in the University car park on Wakefield Road.

On campus

Individual assistance will be available on campus as necessary to access gowning, photography and catering facilities. Please note that the University is not able to provide wheelchairs. All the routes around campus may involve stairs or lifts. 

Access to gowning and registration

Gowning and registration will take place in the Sports Hall which is accessible via stairs or a lift. Due to space restrictions, only graduates can enter for gown and ticket collection. Please ask your guests to wait for you while you do this and then meet up with them to give them their tickets.

Access to the celebratory reception

The celebratory reception will be held in the Sports Hall. 

Access to photography

Photography will take place in the Sports Hall which is accessible via stairs or a lift.

Access to the guest seating area

Access to the majority of guest seating is via a flight of steps. Level access seats can be reserved for guests with wheelchairs or limited mobility, please let us know details of any guests that are wheelchair users, have other mobility problems or have a visual/hearing impairment, for whom adjustments to seating may be required. 

British sign language interpreter

Access to a BSL interpreter can be made available, on the provision that the University is given prior notice. Please let us know your requirements as soon as possible by contacting mygraduation@hud.ac.uk . When you contact us, please ensure that you notify us of whether the interpreter is required for a graduand or a guest.
