Problems are easily developed. Problems like mild depression, anxiety, stress, panicking, nervousness, isolation and loss of sleep make it difficult for us to cope with life's daily demands. 1 in 4 of us will feel like this, but you do not need to try and cope on your own. If you live (including as a student) in Kirklees and are over the age of 17, the IAPT service can help. |
Huddersfield Students' Union - Look after your mate |
The charity 'student minds' have developed this innovative and engaging 2 hour workshop which helps to empower students to support friends experiencing mental health difficulties, whilst looking after their own wellbeing. For students, navigating university life can be tricky at times and we know how important it is for an individual to reach out to their friends in times of need. We want students to have the knowledge, confidence and skills to support their friends and feel comfortable confiding in each other. The SU are running this workshop on behalf of student minds, where you will develop essential life skills in listening, communicating, motivating and boundary setting. |
Huddersfield Students' Union - Peer Listener |
Sometimes you just need someone to talk to, and the Student Union Advice Centre want to make sure there's someone here to listen. That's why we opened the Peer Support Service! This is a confidential service run by trained students, for students, giving you the chance to sit down and have a chat when you need to (cup of tea optional). You can connect with us virtually or in person, the peer support service is located right outside the Advice Centre, Floor 5, Student Central, in a purpose built area which is quiet and relaxing. To connect with us, you can book an appointment either face-to-face, or virtually, or you can message a peer listener via email or teams: peerlistening@hud.ac.uk |
