The annual European Researchers' Night takes place all over Europe on the last Friday of September.
It gives the public a chance to meet researchers and find out about their latest discoveries through a range of exciting activities and interactive workshops. It’s an opportunity to gain insight into what researchers do and understand the impact it has on our day-to-day lives. As a postgraduate researcher (PGR), being able to engage the public with your research is valuable skill and a fantastic experience to add to your CV. Not to mention the amazing prizes to be won through competitions and giveaways on the night.

The FameLab competition started in the UK in 2005 at the Cheltenham Science Festival and focuses on science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) subjects.
Contestants from around the world take part using only their knowledge and a few props to communicate their research to members of the public. The result is an unpredictable, interesting and enlightening way to find out about new and exciting research.
Audience members can also be involved, with the power to judge the contestants along with a professional judging panel. Judging criteria include well-balanced and accurate content, charisma and clarity of communication.
Contestants must be aged 21 or over and can include postgraduate researchers, academic staff and those who work in industry, such as computer technicians, statisticians and consultants, etc.
