Our Management Development Scheme provides graduates with first-hand experience of managing and leading people, as well as operational responsibility and accountability from an early stage.
The Scheme
- Starting salary of £28,000 (with increments during the programme subject to performance)
- Join as a ‘Management Trainee’, completing placements within the Huddersfield Control Centre (HCC)*, a Support Function (typically Project Support or Fleet Management) and field locations supporting a Location Transport Manager
- Hands-on experience in a variety of Operational roles and involvement in business-wide projects with autonomy and responsibility from an early stage
- Operational leadership experience in a rapidly growing and fast paced Unionised environment
- Structured training and development
- Exposure to key operational areas to develop your management capabilities
*Please note that the HCC placement involves shift work including nights and weekends. A shift allowance is payable on top of the basic salary whilst working in this department.
Person Specification
You will have an outgoing personality and be capable of influencing others. You will have the ability to challenge the status quo and drive improvements as part of a team and on your own. You will have a flexible approach, be highly analytical and be comfortable with numbers, as detailed financial appraisal is an essential requirement. You will have a strong determination to succeed in a demanding environment and be able to demonstrate business acumen and an ability to think on your feet.
Selection Criteria
- Strong English/Maths skills
- On track to achieve a 2:1 degree (preferably Business or Logistics)
- Strong IT skills (Microsoft packages)
