Absence - Reporting Procedures

Trainees must follow strict absence procedures and treat placement with the same professionalism as workplace attendance. 

On the first day of absence, trainees must:

• Follow the settings absence policy.
• Email their course tutor and the University placement team.
• Persistent absence may require making up days or could risk termination of the placement. 
• Medical evidence may be required for longer absences.

Acceptable reasons for absence:

• Illness
• Urgent compassionate reasons (e.g., bereavement, family emergency)
• Teaching job interviews (not during timetabled teaching)
• Certain religious observances
