Key Expectations

Professional Conduct

You are studying a professional course therefore you must demonstrate professional behaviours in both university and placement. You are expected to:

• Always demonstrate professional behaviour and follow the course Code of Conduct.
• Attend your placement setting punctuality, refer to the absence link for details around reporting absences.
• Communicate respectfully with staff, mentors, and pupils and adhering to professional behaviours as per your course requirements.
• Follow the policies and procedures of your placement school including reporting of Safeguarding incidents and adhering to the behaviour policy.
• Submit lesson plans within an appropriate timeframe, being mindful of mentor and teacher availability.
• Attend and contribute to the wider school life where required e.g. attending Parents Evening and extra-curricular activities.
• Adhere to the Placement Protocols and Expectations document, including travel expectations of up to 90 minutes if required.
• Engage fully with subject focused and ITAP weeks, including school-based practice and university sessions.
• Raise concerns with your School-Based Mentor, Professional Mentor or University PAT.
• Check university email regularly and respond to communication in a timely manner.

Attendance & Reliability

Full attendance and punctuality are essential for both university sessions and placements.

You are expected to:

• Arrive on time each day, ensuring you follow the schools staff policy in relation to signing in and wearing ID badges
• Attending and contributing to staff meetings and staff training days
• Notify the school and university promptly of any absence by following the school’s absence policy

Important Boundaries

You must not:

• Withdraw from or attempt to change your placement independently
• Make unauthorised arrangements directly with the school
• Fail to follow university or school guidance
• Failure to meet these expectations may impact your progression on the course
