Basic Sewing Machine Skills 3-week course

Tuesdays 25 February, 4 & 11 March, 16:30-18:00

Learn how to sew on an industrial sewing machine with this 3-week course dedicated to basic sewing machine skills. This course will provide you with the initial skills required to start using a sewing machine confidently and safely, whilst understanding some of the basics of garment construction.

Through the weekly workshops you will learn a variety of different sewing and construction techniques, aimed at enabling you to take the first steps towards creating your own garments for your fashion/garment construction business.

Please note, this course is for existing Maker Space members only who have completed a Sewing Machine Induction and wish to use the course to aid and enhance their clothing/fashion business.

4-week Tailoring course

Tuesdays 4.30pm-6:00pm starting 22 April

Discover the art of basic pattern drafting and cutting with our 4-week course.

Learn about fabric selection, measurement taking, and how to use pattern cutting tools and equipment to produce unique and professional-quality designs.

Whether you're a beginner or have some experience in sewing, this course is designed to help you advance your skills and unleash your creativity to bring your designs to life. Join us now and take the first step towards becoming a skilled garment maker.

Led by Vick Nissley, a fashion, and textiles technician with over 30 years making experience in a mix of industry settings, Vick has the fundamental knowledge and techniques needed to create custom-made patterns for a variety of garments.

The course will run on Tuesdays 22 & 29 April and 6 & 13 May.

Please note, this course is for individuals who wish to aid and enhance their clothing/fashion business only.

Spaces are limited, so previous attendees may be asked to give their spot to someone new.
