Access University Software Anywhere with 'Remote’

What is Remote?

Remote is the University of Huddersfield’s remote IT application service.  It allows you to run specialist university applications directly from your own PC, Mac, laptop, or tablet - without needing a VPN or a campus PC.

(Note: You may also hear about UniDesktop. This is a separate service used for highly specific applications. You only need to use UniDesktop if your lecturer explicitly directs you to do so.)

How to Access Remote

You can access the service whichever way works best for you:

Option 1: The Windows App (Recommended)

  1. Search for and open the Windows App on your device. (If you don't have it, download it from your device's App Store or the Microsoft Store).
  1. Sign in using your standard University email and password.
  1. Your assigned apps will appear directly in the client window, or you can find them in your Start menu under UoH Remote (RD).

Option 2: Web Browser (Quick Access)

  1. Open your preferred browser and go to https://remote.hud.ac.uk
  1. Sign in with your University email and password.
  1. If prompted, click to "Allow access to local resources" and re-enter your password if asked.
