Purchasing Computer Hardware & Software
We appreciate that whilst you're a student, you'll want to access the same software on your own equipment that you can access on campus PCs. You'll find our UniDesktop solution really useful for this.
Software:
We offer you as part of the software contract the option to download IBM SPSS & AMOS, Minitab and NVivo Professional from our Software Downloads page (you must log in to access them).
You can download installable versions of Microsoft Office (Windows & macOS) software free from your UniMail account as all students are part of Office 365. For instructions on how to do this click here. This will last until you graduate then these rights will be removed from your account.
Microsoft offer some limited software & services free to all students (regardless of your course or degree!). This is Microsoft Azure for Students (formerly Microsoft Imagine). For students within the School of Computing & Engineering then you have access to the Microsoft Imagine Premium plan. For details & access then please speak to your school technical staff in SJ2/04 or scentech@hud.ac.uk.
Hardware:
You can borrow laptops from the Library. There are 96 laptops available for use both on and off campus for a period of 48 hours. All you need to do is swipe your campus card to borrow a laptop, as they are linked to the University's library system.
