Thinking of studying here

Information for EU/EEA Applicants

On 1 January 2021, the United Kingdom (UK) left the European Union (EU). The UK and EU's transition period ended on 31 December 2020.

As an EU/EEA national, you will need to have immigration permission to study in the UK with effect from 1 January 2021. This means that students who were not present in the UK by 31 December 2020 will need a Student visa (previously Tier 4) to enter the UK and study at the University.  Find out more in the information on the eligibility to study for EU applicants.

Eligibility to study in the UK

If you have accepted a place with us, we will request you to email in documents to show you are eligible to study here. These should be emailed to us at: ets@hud.ac.uk

For example:

  • Passport
  • Driving Licence AND your Full Birth Certificate
  • Biometric Residence Permit (BRP)
  • EU ID card

Please note that you'll also need to upload a photograph as part of your Pre enrolment process.  This is so that we can produce your Student ID Card, even if you have already supplied ID for your eligibility check. If you don't have any of the above, please see our Acceptable forms of ID document to find out the types of ID you could provide, or email us for further advice.

Are you studying a course with particular requirements?

This includes courses such as health, social work or teaching.

It may be that you already supplied ID when applying for your course. In this case, you will still need to send in ID for the eligibility check as we can only use ID for the purpose for which it was requested. If you have any queries about eligibility to study checks, please contact us at studentrecords@hud.ac.uk.
