Attendance Records and Data

You can review your attendance information through MyHud.

Checking your attendance record regularly helps ensure attendance is being recorded correctly and allows any concerns to be identified and addressed promptly.

You can check your attendance information through your MyHud account.

Regularly reviewing your attendance record helps ensure attendance is being recorded accurately and allows you to identify concerns at an early stage.

Next Steps:

  • Check your attendance record through MyHud.
  • Review attendance information regularly throughout the academic year.
  • If something looks wrong, first check B2, B4 or Section C before contacting the team.

Attendance information does not appear immediately after attendance has been recorded.

Attendance data is processed and updated within 24–48 hours and may take time to appear in MyHud. It is usually better to check again the following day.

Next Steps:

  • Allow 24–48 hours for attendance information to update.
  • Check MyHud again after the update period has passed.
  • If the issue may relate to a card reader fault, follow Section C2.
  • Only contact the Student Engagement Team if the issue remains after these checks.

Weekly checks are usually sufficient, but it is a good idea to check your attendance record regularly.

Next Steps:

  • Check your attendance record weekly.
  • Check again after any absence or attendance concern.
  • If something looks wrong, allow time for the record to update and then follow B2 or B4.

If you think your attendance record is not correct, complete the self-checks below before contacting the Student Engagement Team.

This helps identify whether the issue is a timing delay, a “Not Monitored” session, a card reader issue or something that needs further review.

  • Check whether 24–48 hours have passed since the session.
  • Check whether the session is marked “Not Monitored”.
  • If you experienced a card reader issue, follow Section C2.
  • If the record still appears incorrect after these checks, contact the Student Engagement Team and include the session date, time, module and room where possible.

Next Steps:

  • Ensure you scan the card reader directly next to the door in the classroom, lecture theatre or lab space.
  • Scan your card within 10 minutes of the session start time to receive your attendance mark.
  • Make sure that the scan registers green on the reader.
  • Always remove your card from your purse, wallet, bag or phone case to ensure it registers the swipe correctly.
  • Use the card reader and QR-code reporting guidance in Section C if the issue relates to a reader fault.
  • If issues continue, go to an iPoint helpdesk to get your card reset.

“Not Monitored” means that attendance for a particular timetabled session is not being tracked or included in attendance percentages. As a result, that session will not affect your overall attendance record.

Examples may include:

  • When there was a technical issue.
  • When attendance is optional.
  • Independent study sessions that do not require attendance monitoring.
  • Sessions taking place off campus where attendance cannot be recorded through the usual methods.

Next Steps:

  • No action is required if the session is correctly marked “Not Monitored”.
  • Continue attending and engaging as normal.
  • Only query it if you believe the session should have been monitored and this remains unclear after checking your timetable or course guidance.

Attendance information is archived at the end of July each year and is therefore no longer accessible through MyHud.
